Let’s talk about LGBTQIA+ and Disabilities
Hello cozy readers, today we will be reading about a topic that is often overlooked but is an ongoing challenge for many of those who are LGTQIA+ and disabled. Many of those who fall into both categories find it difficult for both those identities to co-exist. One of the main reasons is there is the is a belief that disabilities and queerness don’t co-exist and there is little support for it. There has been great movement in bringing awareness to this subject however there is still a large issue with ableism and homophobia.
EQI solutions want to change this stigma by creating a space where everyone is welcome to be themselves without judgment or fear. We do this by ensuring that everyone has equal access to our services and allowing your voice and experiences to be acknowledged and heard. We believe all organizations and peoples should adopt this mindset to create a safe and welcoming space for those part of the LGTBTQIA+ and are disabled. Below are some ways that can help change this stigma and create a safe space for those disabled and part of the LGBTQIA +.
If you are reading this and you are LGBTQIA+ and disabled, know that you’re not
